Police: Ind. man tried to run over state trooper…

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A Connersville man has been arrested after police say he tried to run over an Indiana state trooper with his pickup truck.

Thirty-nine-year-old Chad Neukam was being held without bond Saturday in the Fayette County Jail in eastern Indiana on preliminary charges including resisting law enforcement.

Police say Neukam fled when Trooper Aaron Edwards tried to pull him over in Connersville shortly after midnight Friday. When Edwards got out of his cruiser after Neukam hit a tree, Neukam allegedly drove at him but stopped when the trooper fired his gun at the truck.

Neukam wasn’t hit by gunfire but was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries from the crash.

Police suspect Neukam may have been drinking.
