Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Van Wert County

VAN WERT COUNTY, Ohio (WOWO): The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle-deer crash that happened Friday on Wetzel Road near Hoaglin Center Road in Van Wert County.

Around 3:45 a.m, 53-year-old Jeffry Bidlack struck a deer on Wetzel Rd. while riding his motorcycle. Bidlack was thrown from his motorcycle and sustained multiple injuries.

Bidlack was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, where he later died of his injuries.

Police say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Wetzel Rd. was closed between Hoaglin Center Rd. and Slane Rd. for nearly two hours while the scene was cleared.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash and police are still investigating.
