STATEHOUSE (WOWO): State Representative Ben Smaltz (R-Auburn) has been appointed to serve on the Sector Strategies Taskforce of the Indiana Career Council. The Indiana Career Council is charged with aligning the education skills and training provided by Indiana’s educational, job skills and career training systems with the existing and projected needs of the state’s job market.

“I am honored to be selected to serve on the Sector Strategies Taskforce committee, and I plan to develop the approaches that will give Hoosiers the opportunity to access a career parallel to their skills and interests,” said Rep. Smaltz. “Helping Hoosiers gain access to information, education and skills essential for future success will help them thrive in today’s global marketplace.”

The Sector Strategies Taskforce will work to adjust education and training programs to align with the changing employment conditions and industry demands.

“Over the next decade, estimates suggest that more than 60 percent of jobs in Indiana will require some form of education beyond high school,” said Rep. Smaltz. “Indiana’s economy and the well-being of our Hoosiers are increasingly dependent on the skills learned through a high quality education.”
