Shelters To Expand Hours During Extreme Weather

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Local organizations are working together to offer more beds, hours and support for families in need of warmth during the incoming cold weather.

The Salvation Army’s shelter will be open 24-hours during the cold storm. While the shelter is already filling up, they offer a spce for people to stay during the day, offering activities and meals, rather than having them return to the frigid temperatures during the day.

The Salvation Army, The Rescue Mission and Just Neighbors have worked to expand overnight shelters across the city.

As of Friday afternoon, 21 Alive News says The Rescue Mission, The Salvation Army, Just Neighbors and St. Joseph’s Mission had additional shelter space.
