Southern Indiana Mother Fatally Shoots Son, Self

ELLETTSVLLE, Ind. (AP) – Authorities say a southern Indiana mother fatally shot her 15-year-old son to death before committing suicide.

The Monroe County sheriff's office says the bodies of Parker Gilliland-Wampler and 46-year-old Carla Gilliland were found inside their burning home Thursday morning in Ellettsville, eight miles northwest of Bloomington.

The Monroe County coroner says each had been shot once. The coroner ruled the teen's death a homicide and the mother's death a suicide.  Monroe County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Brad Swain told The Herald-Times that neighbors said Gilliland made comments about harming herself and her son.
