Teen Killed, Another Injured In Crash

ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – A teenage girl was killed and another teen was injured when a semi-truck struck a horse-drawn buggy in Adams County early Friday morning.

The crash happened around 2:10 a.m. on State Road 124 near County Road 200 East in Washington Township.

Authorities say both vehicles were traveling west when the semi collided with the rear of the buggy.

16-year-old Laura Schwartz of Decatur died at the scene, and a teenage boy was taken to a hospital for treatment. The truck driver was not injured.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

These people need protection, and i never hear anything being done. I just read more and more about these senseless tragedies.
Is it happening?
Are steps being taken to investigate and prevent?

Write below, and let me know.

Also, we never really here about a buggy misguidingly creating an accident, which takes the life of a motorised vehicle occupant?
Seems like.. when bicyclists are picked off, we build them paths to ride on. Now i suppose, we can’t just make exclusive buggy roads, but maybe can direct the traffic off the little roads a little better. Limit commercial truck travel, or drop the bloody speed limit.

But, maybe this is not completely possible?
I don’t know the specifics, Was this a delivery driver?
As it occurred in a very rural area, (between Monroe and Wilshire) wondering if this wasn’t a Milk Run Semi.
Was this Semi driver local? Surely if you are driving locally, you know to watch out for these wagons and buggies, when we share the roadway.

Reads like someone unfamiliar with the area..

…on an off-the-wall thought… (to which i always seem to have plenty..)
I think we need to go back to a greater presence of Trains and Buggies. We could solve a lot of issues, by getting a majority of the Semi’s off the road. Always need some for deliveries, don’t get me wrong, but according to a source, “. Moving freight by train is 3 to 4 times more fuel-efficient than using trucks. On average, rail transport lowers greenhouse gas emissions by up to 75% per ton-mile when compared to highway transport.”

Our cancel-culture of Trains, has caused our country to thrive on the, “I want it now” mentality. We need to get away from this, as these people are damaging the environment.
…and, i just find them annoying. Similarly to self-centred “We do it all for you”, “Your way, right away”. Just a way to create a ‘Whiner Culture”… and wow, did they. Now, you get on pickle and people throw the order back at the window, or call and complain about their Prime status, when inquiring about their package!

Buggies, though. I am rather surprised that Mid & Southern California hasn’t picked back up on it! Mitigating carbon emissions by returning to horse-drawn carriages in the cities! Even more so, am i taken back that they haven’t proposed it and forced it upon us all. Give up our luxuries and return to the greener side of the past.

😀
Imagine the lavish lifestyles horses would have, these days! There’s likely to be a Horse daycare! Maybe a monthly spa?
Societally, Economically, Agriculturally, Biologically & Physically; We’d all stand to benefit by removing a majority of petroleum from our lives, to be completely honest.

At first, there would be some woe’s. Farmers would lose some of their horse-power!
bahahaah.. sorry

But then they could dust off that 2 row planter, put it back to use! Eventually, large scale farming operations would come to a halt. Land would get back to real farmers. Rural life would get back to normal.

Now, that blue & white collar commute might suffer a bit.
🤔
But would it really?
Granted, the New Haven police have faster vehicles, and it’s not fair.
…now, put everyone on horseback, and even the playing field!

Little harder to pull me over if i run my horse 10 over, in a 25 MPH zone!
