Teen Killed in Van Wert County Crash

VAN WERT, Ohio (WOWO) – Authorities in Van Wert County continue to investigate a crash that killed a 17-year-old and injured three others.

Monday, just before 8 a.m. a vehicle driven by 18-year old Matthew Niemeyer of Fort Jennings veered off US 224 near John Yoh Road. The car entered a ditch and struck a telephone pole. According to the Ohio High Patrol, the vehicle overturned and struck the ditch again.

Seventeen-year-old Jacob Guy was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Another teen, 17-year-old Christoper Mohr was also ejected and airlifted to a Lima Hospital.

Niemeyer and front seat passenger Brandon Kimmet were transported to a Van Wert Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash happened about five miles northeast of Van Wert.
