Three Charged with Bilking Couple of $1.5M

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — A 53-year-old Fort Wayne woman and her two adult children are accused of conspiring to bilk a couple out of about $1.5 million over seven years by sending text messages purportedly from the Mafia.

Kelly Jo Custer is scheduled to appear in federal court in Fort Wayne on Monday for a probable cause hearing on charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Sidney Custer and 25-year-old Ashley Custer are charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

None of the three could be reached for comment because they are being held without bond. Messages seeking comment were left Sunday by The Associated Press for the attorneys for Kelly Jo Custer and Ashley Custer. Court records do not list an attorney for Sidney Custer.
