Trial Set for Woman After Plea Deal is Rejected

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana judge has scheduled a September trial date for a woman after rejecting a plea agreement when she refused to admit she knew a man was a convicted felon when she transferred the handgun to him.

St. Joseph Superior Court Judge Jane Woodward Miller set a Sept. 8 trial date for 41-year-old Jenifer Leveque on felony charges of assisting a Criminal and transferring a handgun to a felon.

Leveque is accused of helping Steven Clippinger, who is accused of shooting and killing his brother and sister-in-law in 2012 in their Mishawaka home, and then helping him escape the scene.

Clippinger also is scheduled to go on trial in September.
