UPDATE: 6-Year-Old’s Death Believed Accidental Drowning

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) – Authorities believe that the death of a 6-year-old girl after being pulled from a central Indiana hotel's swimming pool was an accidental drowning.

Columbus police Sgt. Matt Harris says an investigation is continuing into how Jolee Dufek of Nashville ended up in the pool at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center on Saturday night. She died Sunday at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Bartholomew County Coroner Larry Fisher says the preliminary cause of Jolee's death is accidental.

Hotel manager Ray Wagner tells The Republic that Jolee might have been with people attending a birthday party near the pool. Wagner says the pool doesn't have lifeguards and is 5 feet at its deepest end.

Jolee was a first grader at Sprunica Elementary School in Brown County.
