FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Lutheran Hospital was placed on lockdown for about an hour Tuesday morning.

Our partners in news at ABC 21 report the lockdown was placed due a “child custody issue.”

The child’s mother told police the child was set to be released from the hospital today, and the father left with him while the nurse was going over discharge paperwork.

The father had visitation rights, and had been to the hospital several times throughout the week to visit the child.

Police report the mother did not think he would hurt the child, but she didn’t want him to leave with the child.

Since the dispute was over custody, an AMBER Alert was not needed and the lockdown was lifted around 11:45 a.m.
