UPDATE: No charges filed in July officer-involved shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – No charges will be filed against the officer who shot a civilian in July.

A Fort Wayne officer shot Anthony Wayne Lincoln, 28, on July 28 after Lincoln approached the officer’s vehicle and displayed a handgun.

Lincoln was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The Allen County Prosecutor’s Office determined the shooting was in result of self-defense and that no charges will be filed against the officer, as he believed that force was necessary to prevent injury or death.
