UPDATE: Police report man pulled gun on officer before being fatally shot

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (AP) – Authorities say a police officer has fatally shot a man in the parking lot of a business following a traffic stop in northern Indiana.

State police say officers from the North Manchester Police Department stopped a pickup truck on Tuesday evening for a traffic infraction and there was “an incident” that led to an officer shooting at the driver.

Police identified the driver as 40-year-old Michael Kline of North Manchester.

According to North Manchester Police Chief Jim Kirk, during the traffic stop Kline pulled a gun on officer Parker Stouffer before he was fatally shot. An eyewitness also reports seeing Kline draw a gun, according to our partners in news at ABC 21.

Officers report performing CPR after shots were fired, but Kline died from his injuries at the scene.

No officers were injured, and the incident is still under investigation.
