UPDATE: Sandbaggers Needed in Jay County, Red Cross Opens Overnight Shelter



In Huntington County, Jeff Bowman with our Partners in News at 21Alive sent us pictures of a Roanoke business (pictured) that experienced heavy flooding after Monday night's storms. 


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Over 300 customers are without power Tuesday morning in Allen County after severe weather pounded most of northeast Indiana.

The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Warning until 10:30 a.m. for Jay, Wells, Whitley, and southwestern Allen County, along with eastern Huntington County.

Volunteer sandbaggers are needed in Jay County. Anyone who would like to help should meet at the Portland Fire Department. Jay County residents in need of sandbags can find them in the back of the Portland Fire Station.

The Jay County Sheriff's Department says multiple roads are CLOSED in Jay County due to flooding. Drivers are asked not to drive through the high water and instead, find an alternate route.

The Jay County Courthouse and Jay County Health Department are also closed today.

A Red Cross shelter will open at 1 p.m. at the Jay County High School gymnasium. If you plan on staying overnight, you are asked to bring own bedding. An evening meal will also be provided.
