UPDATE: South Side High Student Shot During Drug Deal

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): We now have more information on a shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon in an alley off Hamilton Avenue.

Around 3:30, police were dispatched to a home on Champlain Drive after a man reported that his 18-year-old son had been shot.

The victim, a South Side High School student William Heingartner, told police he was meeting with another student to sell him marijuana in the alley between Weisser Park Avenue and Hanna Street.

During the drug deal, the other student shot the victim and then ran away. After the altercation, Heingartner drove home and woke his dad up to alert him of the shooting. That's when police were called.

At last report, Heingartner was in serious condition. At this time, no arrests have been made, and police are still investigating.
