FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne company has made a big impact in the fight against breast cancer this year.

The Vera Bradley Foundation holds a golf and tennis event every year called the Vera Bradley Classic. Money raised through the Classic goes to the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center for cancer research.

The Journal Gazette reports that this year the event raised $1,052,717 between Saturday’s tennis tournament and Monday’s golf outing.

Last year they brought in over $834,000. The Classic has gone on since 1994, when it brought in an initial fundraising amount of $64,000.
