WASHINGTON, D.C. (WOWO): A petition posted on the White House website seeks severe penalties for people who violate school bus-related traffic laws.

It was posted back on October 31st, the day after three Indiana children were killed while trying to board the bus in Rochester.

The petition seeks to give violators penalties including 90 days in jail, a 90 day suspended license, 12 points on a driver’s license and a mandatory minimum fine of $5,000 for first-time offenders.

The petition needs 100,000 signatures by the end of the month in order to receive a response from the White House. So far, it has around 14,000.
