Health Department Launches “Hero” Immunization Campaign

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Department of Health is hoping to use the thought of “heroes” to encourage immunizations.

This week the Department is rolling out a media campaign to Allen County residents – though you may have already seen it around town – focused on preventing respiratory illnesses like the flu, whooping cough and pneumonia that killed nearly 57,000 people in the US combined in 2013, and all of which are preventable through immunizations.

The campaign is called “Heroes Need a Plan,” and portrays normal people as “heroes” by getting vaccinated. You can learn more at HeroesPlan.org.
