Allen County Coroner Identifies Lima Road Crash Victim

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An autopsy was performed Monday afternoon on the body of a woman who was struck by a vehicle on southbound Lima Road just north of Progress Road early Saturday morning.

She has been identified as 41-year-old Jennifer Kump of Fort Wayne. According to the Allen County Coroner, the cause of death was ruled blunt force trauma due to a vehicle verses pedestrian crash.

Kump is the second traffic fatality ruled in Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2014.

According to Fort Wayne Police, officers arrived on the scene around 6:15 a.m. Saturday morning and found the victim lying on the road. She was unconscious and unresponsive. Once paramedics reached the accident, they pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police believe Kump was walking southbound in the far west travel lane of southbound Lima Road.  It appears due to dark lighting conditions and the victim wearing all dark clothing, the driver of the vehicle was unable to see her walking in the middle of the roadway.  It does not appear alcohol was a factor in the crash.

In the meantime, this incident remains under investigation.
