INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO/AP) _ Officers with the Indiana State Police Department say an Angola woman has died after a pickup truck tire went through the windshield of her SUV.

The pickup lost a wheel Monday morning on northbound I-465 in the Indianapolis area. The tire bounced over a median wall into the southbound lanes, where it hit the SUV. State police say the driver of the SUV, identified as Crystal Emerick, 43, of Angola, was taken to a hospital, where she later died. Her passenger had what were described as minor injuries.

Police say a vehicle driven by Chad Hockett, 27, of Indianapolis, was northbound on I-465 near the 49.9 mile marker when the rear left wheel fell off the vehicle.  Hockett fully cooperated with investigators and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash. However, investigators are still trying to find the cause of the wheel separating from the truck.
