Attic fire in Fort Wayne home Sunday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire around midnight Sunday.

The person who called 911 reported that flames were emerging from the attic of the home, near the intersection of Breckenridge and Fairfield.

The caller also informed the fire department that they knocked on the door of the home in an attempt to alert those inside, but the home appeared empty.

Once on scene, fire fighters found flames at the front of the home, near the attic window.

The fire fighters checked the inside of the home and found that it was mostly on the exterior.

The fire was under control by 12:26 a.m.

The home suffered from minor smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
