MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Ball State University is strengthening its policies to deter student sexual assault.

The Star Press reports the new 32-page code approved by trustees Friday includes creation of Sexual Misconduct Board to hear student complaints about dating violence, cyber stalking, posting nude photos on social networking sites and other offenses. It also includes penalties for sexually abusing victims who are drunk or otherwise incapacitated.

The code is 24 pages longer than the previous policy.

Disciplinary action against students found responsible for misconduct can range from probation to suspension or expulsion.

Officials say that all university employees including upper management will be trained on preventing, reporting and responding to sexual misconduct.

The move came amid new guidance on campus sexual misconduct from the federal government.
