INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Natural gas advocates want to create incentives for building fueling stations across the state in hopes that more people will operate vehicles using alternative fuels.

 
A bill approved by the Indiana House of Representatives and pending in the state Senate would give tax breaks to companies that use natural gas to power large trucks.
 
Bill sponsor Republican Rep. Randy Frye of Greensburg says the best way to get more natural gas fueling stations in Indiana is through supply and demand, and large trucks use the most fuel.
 
A group called Greater Indiana Clean Cities displayed cars, trucks and buses that run on alternative fuels outside the Statehouse on Monday. Executive Director Kellie Walsh says the goal of the effort is to reduce the country’s dependence on foreign oil.
