CLAYPOOL, Ind. (WOWO): A Kosciusko County house explosion that killed one person in August was accidental.

An investigation by multiple departments determined the explosion was accidental in nature. Investigators believe a gas leak was the cause for the fire, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

On Aug. 25, crews were called to a home in the 4600 block of South C.R. 450 West in Claypool on reports of a house explosion. When officers arrived, they found the house had been obliterated.

The home owner, Larry G. Justis, was airlifted in critical condition. He has since been released from the hospital.

His wife, Kay A. Justis, was pronounced dead at the scene. She died from blunt force trauma as a result of the explosion.
