Critical injury crash closes Covington Road for two hours Monday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – One person is in critical condition after a crash on Covington Road Monday morning.

Fort Wayne police were called to the crash on Convington Road, just east of Scott Road, around 10 a.m.

Once on scene, witnesses told police a passenger car was traveling eastbound on Covington Road when it traveled left of center into the opposing lane of traffic, and collided with a westbound box truck.

The driver of the passenger car was pinned inside the vehicle and had to be cut free using the “jaws of life.” He was transported to a local hospital where he’s currently listed in critical condition.

The driver and passenger in the box truck were uninjured.

Covington Road was closed off between Scott Road and Emerald Lake Drive for two hours while the crash was investigated.
