FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  If you’d like to honor some local veterans, head to the Fort Wayne International Airport Wednesday evening.

The 22nd Northeast Indiana Honor Flight, which provides area veterans free flights to and from monuments and memorials in Washington D.C., left the Air National Guard Base next to the airport, Wednesday morning. On board are a combination of World War II and Korean War vets.

This flight is the final trip of the year and the last flight for Northeast Indiana Honor Flight President Bob Myer and his wife Sandy.

The flight will return tonight at 9pm. Organizers say if you plan on attending their homecoming, you should arrive at the airport ticketing area about an hour beforehand. Parking in the long-term and short-term parking lots is free.
