Final Three Autopsies on Gary Bodies to Be Completed

CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) _ The Lake County coroner's office says autopsies are scheduled to be completed Tuesday for the final three women whose bodies were found in abandoned homes in Gary over the weekend.

Police found the bodies after questioning 43-year-old Darren Vann of Gary in the death of 19-year-old Afrikka Hardy. Her body was found Friday at a Hammond motel.

Police say Vann confessed to strangling Hardy and told police where they could find the bodies of six more women in Gary.

The coroner's office says one of the six Gary victims also died of strangulation.

Vann is charged with murder, murder in commission of a robbery and robbery causing great bodily injury in the death of Hardy. He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Wednesday.
