Fire Destroys Frito-Lay Warehouse in Gas City

GAS CITY, Ind. (AP) – Authorities say an overnight fire destroyed a food manufacturer's warehouse in Indiana.

Firefighters were dispatched about 3 a.m. Friday to the Frito-Lay facility in Gas City, off Interstate 69 and State Road 22.

Gas City Fire Chief Dave Linn says the building was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene. He says product inside the warehouse caused the flames to spread quickly.

Linn says officials believe the fire was caused by an electrical issue. The building has been deemed a total loss, and damage is estimated at $425,000.

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

Gas City is about 80 miles north of Indianapolis in Grant County.
