Fort Wayne City Council hears petition to remove home’s historic status

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An historic home in Fort Wayne’s future is still uncertain.

Richard Herber owns a home on North Washington Road designed by famous architect Frank Loyd Wright 64 years ago, and it’s part of the National Register of Historic Places and was declared a Local Historic District eight years ago.

Our Partners in News at 21Alive report he’s been petitioning to have the local historic designation removed, and approached the Fort Wayne City Council about it last night, due to being unable to make restorations to the property due to being disabled and having a low income.

His petition will be considered next Tuesday.
