FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — Average gasoline prices in Fort Wayne have dropped sharply over the past week, according to GasBuddy.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Fort Wayne is now $3.48, down 17.2 cents from a week ago.
Prices are also 5.3 cents lower than a month ago, but remain 38.5 cents higher than they were at this time last year.
GasBuddy says the cheapest gas reported in Fort Wayne Sunday was $3.33 per gallon, while the most expensive was $3.69.
The drop in Fort Wayne comes as the national average moves in the opposite direction. The national average is now $4.05 per gallon, up 2.9 cents over the past week.
GasBuddy petroleum analyst Patrick De Haan says fewer than 10 states saw gas prices decline over the past week, while diesel prices have surged nearly 17 cents nationally.
De Haan says continued disruptions to global refining capacity are putting upward pressure on fuel prices.
