FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Guinness has officially confirmed that a Fort Wayne sunflower has broken the world record in height.

Alex Babich’s sunflower grew past the world record that had been set 11 years ago by a German farmer.

The sunflower’s official measurement reaches 35 feet, 9 inches, beating the record by more than five feet.

Babich was joined on a Zoom call by a member of the Guinness Book of World Records in London last week to collect an official measurement.
