Friday Morning Car-Deer Crash Closed CR 950

FORT WAYNE Ind. (WOWO): Police in Steuben County were called to County Road 950 East, north of County Road 25 South, after reports of a car-deer crash.

23-year-old John Shumaker of Angola was driving his jeep when a deer ran into the roadway. The jeep then went off the side of the road and his passenger, 30-year-old Frank Figgens was pinned against a tree. Figgens was taken to Parkview Hospital with leg injuries.

A third passenger, 19-year-old Trevor Lynch was in the backseat uninjured. All three men are said to have been wearing seat belts. Shumaker suffered from hand injuries and was treated at Cameron Hospital.

A portion of CR 950 E was closed for two hours Friday morning.

Alcohol is said not to be a factor in the crash and police are still investigating.
