A local teacher is being honored with a state award.

Late this afternoon Ginger Giessler with Wayne High School’s New Tech Academy will be presented with the 2013 Milken Award.

The language arts teacher will honored by Glenda Ritz, Indiana’s superintendent of public instruction.

The Milken Award highlights excellence among K-12 teachers, principals and specialists.

The award is sponsored by Fifth Third Bank.
