HICKSVILLE, Ohio (WOWO): An area school district is making national headlines for a sign posted outside its schools.

National Public Radio reports that the Hicksville Board of Education has posted signs that say “certain individuals” within school buildings are armed, and may use “whatever force is necessary” to protect students and staff.

School district staff is allowed to carry guns, but they can’t be visible at any time in school and must never be away from a staff member’s body.

Hicksville Schools Superintendent Keith Countryman says the district is also considering adding more cameras to school buildings.
