Indiana Man Hurt in Snowmobile Crash

GRIFFITH, Ind. (AP): A Merrillville man has been injured after his snowmobile struck a hard three-foot pile of snow.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says the accident occurred about 6 p.m. Sunday in Griffith, about 25 miles southeast of Chicago.

Conservation Officer Shawn Brown says 39-year-old John Budack was riding a snowmobile on a local bicycle trail when the vehicle struck a hard mound of snow, knocking him off.

Budack was taken to a Munster hospital, where they treated him for a possible broken leg and broken wrists.
