Indiana Remains Top Value State for Land Buyers

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (WOWO) Indiana ranks as the fifth best-valued state in the nation for land purchases, according to data cited by real estate industry experts.

The analysis shows the average price of land in Indiana is approximately $126,300 per acre. While prices vary widely by location, lakefront communities such as Syracuse report some of the highest per-acre costs in the state.

In contrast, towns including Corydon remain significantly more affordable, keeping Indiana competitive for buyers seeking land outside major tourism and recreation areas. Experts say demand tied to tourism, lakes, and seasonal housing continues to push prices higher in certain ZIP codes.

Despite those increases, analysts note Indiana remains a top value destination for land buyers compared to many other states. The data indicates the average Indiana resident can save enough to purchase an acre of land in nearly eight years.

Experts say the variation in land prices highlights the influence of geography, tourism, and local demand, while overall affordability continues to attract buyers statewide.
