Indianapolis Police Fatally Shoot 15-Year-Old Boy

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Authorities say a teenager was fatally shot by Indianapolis police after officers say he accelerated toward them in a suspected carjacked vehicle.

Marion County coroner's office manager Marchele Hall identified the slain person as 15-year-old Andre Green.

Indianapolis police says officers tried to pull over a vehicle Sunday night that matched the description of one reported carjacked.

When that vehicle approached a cul-de-sac and tried to make a U-turn, it struck the side of the police car and multiple passengers then ran from the suspect's vehicle.

Police said the driver refused officers' commands to get out, and they fired at him when he accelerated the vehicle at officers. Police say the driver was holding a firearm when he exited the vehicle and collapsed.
