Low Turnout Rates for May Primary Reported Throughout State

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Allen County wasn't the only county in Indiana to have a low turnout on the May 5th primaries.

Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson announced Monday that 12 percent of all Hoosiers eligible to vote in the primary actually turned out to vote.

In our area, Huntington County led the way with a 21.8% turnout rate, followed by Jay County at 20.7%, Wabash County at 17.7%, and Kosciusko County with 17.4%.

Allen County officially came in at 9.8% turnout rate, but that wasn't the lowest in our area. Noble County had a 7% turnout, Steuben County had a 7.4% rate, and Whitley County had a 7.8% turnout rate.

Lawson hopes the voter turnout in November is higher.
