FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man accused of shooting a woman in the stomach will spend up to six years in prison.

33-year-old Jamarcus Cain of Fort Wayne pleaded guilty in Allen Superior Court Tuesday to felony domestic battery, in a deal with prosecutors that saw attempted murder, aggravated battery, and other charges dropped.

Police say he shot 31-year-old Brittany Bruce in the stomach last September after getting upset over some text and Facebook messages she had sent him. The News-Sentinel reports she managed to drive herself to a hospital and survived.

Cain had previously tried to get his trial moved out of Allen County. He’ll be sentenced next month.
