N. Indiana Man Pleads Guilty to Battering Baby

PERU, Ind. (AP): A northern Indiana man has pleaded guilty to battery charges for shaking a 1-month-old girl so violently she suffered severe brain and retinal injuries.

Twenty-three-year-old Hogan Moss of Logansport pleaded guilty Friday to battery resulting in serious bodily injury. A Miami Circuit Court judge will announce April 24 whether he'll accept or reject a proposed plea deal calling for Moss to face a 6-year prison sentence.

The Kokomo Tribune reports Moss was watching the baby in a Bunker Hill apartment last year while the child's mother left to run errands.

Prosecutors say Moss violently shook the infant when she began crying and the child was hospitalized the following day.

Doctor found that the child had suffered a brain hemorrhage and retinal hemorrhaging in her eyes.
