Officer-Involved Shooting in June Ruled Self-Defense

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The police-involved shooting death of a Fort Wayne man in June of 2015 has been ruled self-defense.

Officers went to Anthony Hodge's home on St. Mary's Avenue in Fort Wayne on June 13th, 2015 and were greeted by Hodge himself, who held a handgun in his hand. The Fort Wayne Police Department says Hodge refused to drop the gun several times, and Officer Nicholas Lichtsinn then shot Hodge in the stomach and killed him.

Indiana State Police has completed their investigation, and the Allen County Prosecutor's Office says the officer shot Hodge in self-defense. No charges will be filed.

Lichtsinn and recent academy graduate Ryan Nysteun were the officers on the scene.
