Ohio Legislature Approves ‘Success Sequence’ Curriculum for Schools

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WOWO): Ohio lawmakers have approved legislation that would require public schools to teach students what supporters call the “success sequence” as part of life-planning and graduation instruction.

The curriculum would encourage students to graduate from high school, enter the workforce or pursue further education, and marry before having children. Supporters argue the sequence is associated with improved economic stability and lower rates of poverty.

The measure sparked bipartisan debate at the Statehouse, with supporters calling it a common-sense framework for future success, while critics questioned whether the state should promote a specific life path.

The bill now heads to Mike DeWine for consideration.

If signed into law, Ohio schools would be required to incorporate the instruction into existing educational requirements for students preparing for life after graduation.
