OHIO, (WOWO) — The Ohio State Fire Marshal has launched a statewide online portal to connect volunteers with local fire departments, especially in rural areas.

Volunteers typically balance full-time jobs with emergency calls and must complete at least 36 hours of initial training, with many going on to complete 240 hours.

WBNS 10-TV reports that officials hope some volunteers will move into professional firefighting careers.
