One dead in crash near Fort Wayne airport

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 57-year-old man was killed Tuesday in an early-morning crash near the Fort Wayne International Airport.

At about 5:11 a.m., the Allen County Sheriff’s Department was notified about a two vehicle crash in the 6400 block of Airport Expressway and Coverdale Road, according to the sheriff’s department. 

Police say a red Chevrolet was traveling eastbound on Airport Expressway when the driver attempted to turn onto Coverdale road. A blue Volkswagen struck the Chevrolet that was turning.

The driver of the Chevrolet died from his injuries. The passenger and driver in the other vehicle were not injured.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
