PASTOR: Sharpton Visit Rescheduled

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  The local ministry bringing national civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton to Fort Wayne says there's been a change in schedule.

Rev. Carlton Lynch of New Beginnings Church says a death in Sharpton's familiy means his appearance originally scheduled for Sunday will now be September 21 at Come as You Are Community Church on South Anthony.

But, while Lynch says he's coming, media representatives with Sharpton's National Action Network aren't confirming it.  Calls to the organization for comment weren't returned to WOWO Radio.

Lynch says that's not the information he's received from Sharpton's administrative team.  He said he spoke with representatives as recently as Tuesday morning.

Regardless of the date, critics say Sharpton track record makes him a risky choice for Fort Wayne. The event is set for 7 p.m., with doors opening at 5 p.m.
