Police: 2 Men Found Fatally Shot At Gary Home

GARY, Ind. (AP) _ Police say two 18-year-old men were found shot to death in Gary amid a rise in violence in the city.

Gary police said in a news release that officers responded to a call about gunshots Thursday morning at a home. According to police, one man was found dead outside the home, and inside was another man who had died.

The Lake County coroner's office identified the two men as James Powell of Gary and Raymond Washington-Whitehead of Merrillville. Police said no one was in custody Thursday in connection with their deaths.

There have been 36 homicides in Gary so far this year, up from 20 homicides at the same point in 2014.
