Purdue Students Plan Missouri Solidarity Demonstration

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ Students at Purdue University are planning a rally to show solidarity with the racially charged protests at the University of Missouri.

Organizers say the demonstration will be held Friday afternoon on the West Lafayette campus. They tell the Journal & Courier (http://on.jconline.com/1iXkqXM ) that the experiences of Missouri students aren't isolated and that Purdue students have faced racism as well.

Demonstrations are planned at numerous campuses across the country, calling for more diversity among students and faculty.

Purdue President Mitch Daniels says the university strives to be an inclusive and discrimination-free community, where each person is respected and treated with dignity.

At Indiana State University, three students ended a brief hunger strike Wednesday after school officials said mandatory diversity training was being implemented for new students.
