Repairs Planned on Century-Old City Hall in Auburn

GARRETT, Ind. (AP) Garrett is finalizing plans for a restoration of its century-old City Hall that's expected to cost up to $3 million.

Plans presented to the Garrett City Council include roof replacement and parapet repairs on the building. Project engineer Scott Carnegie says masonry restoration and window replacement would replicate patterns determined by reviewing photographs from 1914.

The Auburn Star reports (http://bit.ly/1HBXfvE ) project contracts could be awarded in October, with completion of work planned by August 2016.

Work on repair plans began last year after a large piece of mortar came off the building. That prompted officials to close the building's main entrance.
