VAN WERT, Ohio. (WOWO): A special prosecutor has been appointed to the Van Wert County Dog Warden.

According to our partners in news at 21 Alive, Paulding County Prosecutor Joe Burkhart will be investigating allegations against Rich Strunkenberg.He was fired last week after a tip to the Sheriff's Department uncovered serious wrong-doing at the animal shelter.

The sheriff has not disclosed what they found, but according to a Times Bulletin report, Van Wert Commissioners dismissed Struckenberg for failure to supply adequate food and water, failure to clean kennels and cages and failure to remove dead animals.
