Trucker in Fatal 2013 New Haven Crash to Be Sentenced

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Wisconsin trucker who slammed into a line of cars killing two and injuring six will learn his sentence today.

In May, Scott Saunders pleaded guilty to the January 2013 crash at US 30 and Doyle Road that killed 65-year-old Suzanne Stephanson of Monroeville and 43-year-old Sandra Dealey of Convoy, Ohio.

In exchange for his plea, Saunders is expected to serve one year behind bars. Other parts of prison term would be suspended with Saunders serving in a detention program.

Allen Superior Judge John Serbeck will determine today if the agreement is reasonable.

He was facing 16 criminal charges, including reckless and criminal recklessness, six counts of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, involuntary manslaughter.
